Black Kettle Campground (Black Kettle Recreation Area / Dead Warrior Lake) is a developed campground on the Black Kettle National Grassland managed by the Cibola National Forest & National Grasslands. The Forest Service recreation listing describes the campground as located at about 2,100 feet elevation and (in the Forest Service recreation listing) having 12 camping units. State tourism and other recreation sources list facilities including picnic areas, a boat ramp, restrooms and drinking water at developed sites, and indicate no RV hookups are available. The site is reported as first-come/first-served and open year-round.

- Forest Service recreation listings mark Black Kettle Campground as 'Site Open' and list the campground as available year-round. TravelOK lists day-use hours (6:00 AM–10:00 PM) and notes camping is year-round and first-come. Check with the local Black Kettle / Cibola office for current access (unpaved interior roads may be impassable after rain) and for active fire restrictions which can affect availability.
- Eligibility
- Open to the general public. Primitive/dispersed camping is allowed on National Forest System lands in the grassland without a special permit; developed sites are public and first-come. Hunting is allowed per state regulations (state licenses and seasons apply).
- How to access this service
- No online reservations — campground is first-come, first-served. Access from Highway 47 / Highway 47A near Cheyenne, OK (see local directions on the Forest Service or TravelOK pages). Check with the Black Kettle / Cibola field office before travel for current road, water, and fire-restriction conditions (phone 580-497-2143).
- What to bring
- Bring drinking water and personal camping supplies. Forest and travel sources advise not to rely on potable water at primitive/dispersed sites and recommend carrying water and supplies. Expect no RV hookups (no electrical/water/sewer hookups).
- Cost
- Primary state and FS documentation indicate no entrance fee to the grassland. TravelOK (Oklahoma tourism) specifically states there is no fee for camping at the Black Kettle Recreation Area and that no reservations are required. Other developed campgrounds on the Black Kettle grassland (for example Lake Marvin or some Skipout sites) may charge fees; primitive/dispersed camping across the grassland is generally free.
