Y.E.S. provides community based services include; emergency shelter care, counseling, first time offenders program, school based services & foster care.
The Youth Emergency Shelter was established in 1971, when a group of concerned citizens formed a steering committee to resolve the problem of abused children being detained in the county jails.
Our facility was donated by the Regional Health Authority and funding from various grants were procured to provide emergency shelter care services to Pittsburg, McIntosh, and Latimer Counties.
Our agency is Community-Based and governed by a Board of Directors comprised of members from the communities we serve. This ensures that our services meet the specific needs of the communities and guarantees the quality children deserve.

The Youth Emergency Shelter operates two community children’s shelters. Emergency Shelters are located in McAlester & Eufaula.
The Youth Emergency Shelter provides Community Based Services in Pittsburg, McIntosh and Latimer Counties.
The Youth Emergency Shelter now has F.A.I.T.H Foster Care Program. (Finding And Improving Treasured Homes)
Our Mission: Prevention and diversion of children and their families from entering, or further penetrating the juvenile justice system, and Provision of a safe, stable environment for those children whose lives have been endangered or threatened.
Donations Needed
The Youth Emergency Shelter needs include; Diapers, food, clothing, volunteers, entertainment, board games, books, etc… Volunteers Needed: YES is always looking for volunteers.
Volunteers Needed
Volunteers must understand to protect the children in our care, they will be required to complete a thorough background check. This process can be time consuming.
